      The U.S. prison system has more prisoners both in absolute numbers as well as by percentage of overall population than the soviet gulags ever had, and this has been true for literally decades now, and makes frequent use of slave labor (which they pretend isn't slave labor because you have "a choice" of working for pennies or solitary confinement, lol)
