Duncan Jones just inherited $25m and he's lecturing the poors on politics by comparing them to his child not wanting to eat new foods.

If there was any justice in the world, everything he owns would be confiscated and he'd be thrown into a Ukrainian trench. Keep the dog picture and put it in his grave so there's something to bury.

Because it's impossible to judge an opposition party by their policies and their actions such as how they vote.

      No. Of course not.

You have to vote them into government first and only then do you get a chance to understand what they're like and, according to Jones, only then do you have a right to voice any objections to that party.

Thatcher has been out of government for a third of a century. Building a votescold campaign based on her memory, especially when nearly half of the UK public wasn't even alive during Thatcher's political career is just ridiculous.

Don't they have a whole "shadow cabinet" over there just for the opposition party to say what they'd totally be doing if they were in power?

The common line is that the shadow cabinet are just saying all the stuff and announcing far-right policies to appeal to the voter base. Once they get in power, THEN they'll be real leftists, they proooomise

Is THAT what a shadow cabinet does? Maaaaaan, I thought they were some cool dark council with robes and hoods that practiced black magic and plotted to install a dark lord. This just sounds like if reddit losers were given a megaphone.

Feels like this kicks off 'cross the pond every 4 years during the run-up to November 11th; and the people that pearl-clutch about "purity politics" and "won't dirty your hands to save us" are always clutching and cudgeling for the most domestically-spineless, globally-genocidal crackers that the Atlantic Coast could possibly offer up. Sucks that the actually decent Brits have to deal with seemingly the same bullshit.

Has Starmer even pretended to be meaningfully left of the Tories? I remember several of his talking points being about how he would carry out right-wing policies like deporting migrants more efficiently than the Conversatives.
