"Can we have more space leftism?" :lenin-sure:

"No. You're going to get Great Person Theory where Michael saves the universe again because that's her destiny." :capitalist-woke:

    :ussr-cry:

Disclaimer: If Jackie Chan abandoned his daughter over some homophobic bigotry, fuck him. :gayroller-2000:

Allegedly he said it was fine that she's gay, its no problem to him. But according to his daughter he wasn't involved in her life due to the extramarital affair. Add in that she dropped out of highschool to be with a woman 12 years her senior... shit gets complex. But yeah, if he's a homophobe fuck him, though he could just be distancing due to the affair and giving money on the downlow to the mom. A young girl dropping out of school to date someone 12 years their senior is definitely not a good sign of a good home life. Very tragic

Oh man imagine the kind of fan drama that localized Chinese Star Trek would cause. Assuming that they'd be using Chinese actors in the same proportion as white actors in the US series, we'd be in for a whole lot of nonsense takes like "NOOOOO VULCANS ARE WHIIIIIITE".

I back the idea 120%, though I think there's better actors than Jackie Chan for captain. If we're going with well known martial arts actors, I'd say Donnie Yen has much more gravitas than Jackie Chan. Though in either case I would like to see them reporting to Admiral Sammo Hung.

Jackie Chan would be more like a whacky security officer who gets beat up all of the time but never dies, saying "I don't want to fight you!"

:| Man I thought he was a decent guy based on his involvement with some socialist shit. Reactionary brainworms strike again

Also she's with a 34 year old as a 22 year old and were dating since she was 17? Wow. Lot to unpack

Yeah really feel for her. The age difference there is... not implying she's in a good spot right now. Jeez. Now I know.

Apparently dropped out of highschool to be with this 34 year old. Wow. Just... wow. Thats no good.

I love him as an actor but as a human he seems to total dick. I also don't believe for second that he supports the CCP for ideological reason. He might be a chinese nationalist or more likely he supports them for his own benefit. How can someone claim to be a socialist while simultaneously act as a brand ambassador for a private jet company? He also seems to live the typcial mega millionair lifestyle (private jets, luxury car collection, mansions, offshore accounts mentioned in the panama paper etc.).

I am just imagining Captain Jackie flying around space and every ship he meets picks a fight with him and he totally mercs them all but he doesn't even like fighting so he keep shouting "LEAVE ME ALONE I DO NO WANT TO FIGHT WITH YOU" constantly as the pile of wrecked ships grows around him.

I would want a complete subversion of the Jackie Chan character. Just a somber, mild-mannered, explicitly communist Star Fleet Captain that relies on diplomacy and teamwork to avoid conflicts. "I don't want no trouble", he says, and the hostile alien tosses his gun and nods. "Neither do I, comrade."
