The thing about this thats so weird to me is that its supposed to be about instilling respect and discipline but as soon as kids get big enough to fight back they do. It should be obvious to literally anyone that its just bullying with no real upside. Like sports coaches get away with it (verbal abuse and overworking) because the kids want to stay on the team and because they think it will make them better athletes. When principles do it its to make them better people? Like, thats not an offer that anyone will take on. The coaches are doing what they do to, in theory, improve them at something physical and technical. You cant beat emotional and moral change into someone, you just make them resentful and defensive.

What is proven to work, meditation, mediated discussion, student autonomy, are all changes that directly target what is inside of students, there is no functional reason that beating could ever work. So its literally just bloodthirsty old people that want to beat people who can't fight back. greeeat, super coooool society

Watch the white ribbon. Kids are not fully developed and that shit fucks them up. They never get resilient enough to fight back.

I guess stating it as what always happens is wrong but kids absolutely do fight back. Teenagers typically arent going to let someone beat them without resisting somehow.

It doesnt make the previous abuse less impactful.
