      I constantly go back and forth about how much blame to lay at the feet of Gorbachev, and how much on other broader forces. Like, not investing in cybernetics and computers in the 60s really hurt the USSR down the line (admittedly an easy position to take in hindsight, but still I think the planners had to have some idea that computers would eventually be the way to go). Sometimes I feel as late as 1986 the USSR could have been saved with a very dedicated effort, and if that's true I definitely put a lot of this all on Gorby.

        The Soviet Union would've easily existed in the modern day if not for gorbys reforms. China was far late into the microprocessor party and they're making 7nm chips now. ___
