drug abuse, selling psychedelics and beheadings on domestic military bases trueanon jsuc
Beep Beep Lettuce has an ongoing series called Ft. Bragg Watch for these stories as they pop up and are ignored elsewhere
remember a few good men was about a lawyer finding a qualified immunity defense for some murderer soldiers? the actual soldiers it was based on were cleared of all charges of course, but in the movie they were acquitted of manslaughter but guilty of conduct unbecoming. The real soldiers were intolerably pissed that they faced fictional consequences.
This feels like when we celebrate the news that a F-35 has killed another pilot. On one hand, it feels deranged, on the other, it's really funny when the instruments of imperialism takes each other out.
Literally just inhuman murderers abusing other wannabe inhuman murderers
Critical support?
I salute the troops who kill other troops in training exercises :rat-salute-2:
Stories like this only make it more attractive to the types of people that considered joining. It mythologizes the hardship required to attain the status of S.E.A.L. thus making it more desirable to pursue.
For folks who were already masochists.
But the fairytale of military service is that these Elite Commandos are somehow the most virtuously hard-working Protestants. They reached their positions through dedication and integrity and discipline all fueled by a patriotic fervor.
The truth is that its a kind-of live-ammo Reality TV game show. Tons of behind-the-scenes cheating, nepotism and brown-nosing for promotions, top talent getting backstabbed to clear space for the more ruthless competitors. The end result is a bunch of burned-out careerist sociopaths, more concerned with that next brass ring than any national project.
This sort of article does nothing to deter ruthless social climbers, sure. But it might disabuse the next Pat Tillman from giving up his football career to take two rounds in the back of the head in Afghanistan.
Just the Randian Ubermensch philosophy applied to military promotion. Establish some absurd standard and predicate any hope of promotion on obtaining it. Then watch people destroy themselves and their peers in ruthless competition. Finally, conclude whomever escapes the bedlam is The Best of The Best.
critical support for dumbass training practices
