“ The tragedy in Pakistan is a stark reminder of climate injustice. The top map shows which nations are most responsible for excess emissions. The bottom map shows which nations are most impacted by it. Climate breakdown is playing out along colonial lines.”

————————————-

This is it, it’s fucked, and every bit as bad as we thought it was going to be. It is categorically unfair that this is playing out along colonial lines. Be aware of an uptick in the already brutal racism against south asians in the west, the water wars haven’t even started. This was one natural disaster that DISPLACED 30 MILLION PAKISTANIS.

THIS SHOULD BE THE BIGGEST NEWS IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW

US: still somehow the largest total carbon polluter

per capita (which is more important)

China is the biggest total, but of course they are, as their population is literally quadruple America. But the average and median American both emit more carbon. Then there's the fact that the bourgeoisie, regardless of nationality, emit way more per capita than the proles.

But if you total pollution since 1850 (or even since 1990), US has polluted more.

Oh yeah. That makes sense. I thought you meant current annual statistics. Yes. The countries that industrialized first historically have the most because they've been doing it the longest. That's very true.
