With the reports saying that the younger generations have increased rates of IBS, suspected to be because of the abundance of microplastics in our environment, I figured I’d ask how many you have IBS?

I have IBS

I tried that for awhile, I think it's more about milk proteins because milk and ice cream destroy me, but a lot of cheeses are fine

It could still be lactose intolerance if you're still consuming milk, it has a lot more lactose than most cheese does. Idk about ice cream but I'd assume it's still more than cheese.

Cheese is actually quite low in lactose compared to dairy products like milk, cream, and yogurt. Most contain less than 2 grams per serving (1 ounce), which is far less than the 12 to 13 grams of lactose you get in one serving (1 cup) of milk.

If you try it again try taking more lactase pills (more enzyme = more likely it'll properly digest all the lactose), make sure they're not weaker (they use a weird measuring system, the ones I use are 9000 FCC whatever that means), and maybe refrigerate them so the enzyme doesn't degrade

There's also lactose free milk (in addition to the soy/almond options) but doing the math it's cheaper to just use lactase pills than buying the lactaid milk

I have tried lactose-free milk in the past and experienced basically the same symptoms, but maybe I rolled a critical miss. I kinda like oat milk better now anyway.
