With the reports saying that the younger generations have increased rates of IBS, suspected to be because of the abundance of microplastics in our environment, I figured I’d ask how many you have IBS?

I have IBS

I have severe Crohn's Disease. I got it at 14 years old. My highschool Latin IV class had 8 students, and 3 with diagnosed Crohn's Disease. Typically this disease is considered hereditary and appears in older jewish men. We grew up near a military base with buried ordnance....

There's an army research lab in my hometown thats adjacent to a local pond where people like to swim. My friend's mom grew up in my town, and her high school class has 10x the average rate of MS (including her).

A lot of people who think they have IBS actually have SIBO, which is curable.

Unfortunately, a lot of misdiagnosing happens, as it's easier to hand out an "eh, probably ibs, here's a list of foods to avoid" rather than actually taking a sample via endoscopy.

    :yea:

Although I believe it's either my energy drink or nicotine consumption. Probably both actually. Also I just eat bad food in general. Alienation doing me dirty :yea: :

I suspect that nearly everyone has some sort of subtle autoimmune issue due to the sheer number of pollutants we are regularly exposed to.

I never thought about it as IBS but now that I think about it pretty much every time I shit is a soft explosive horror and I do it a couple times a day. I blame the alcohol though

Liquor really fucks up my insides. Have much better poops after I started using Kratom aside from it almost killing my urge to drink.

Yup, but it's generally not a problem when I'm eating healthy. Drinking really does me in though, like I know people typically have gut issues after heavy drinking but it seems like I'm really sensitive to it

Oh yeah, I'm definitely weirdly shidding and farding. Is it gluten? Is it lactose? Is it milk proteins? Is it FODMAPs? Idk, maybe, sometimes, sometimes not, roll a d20

I tried that for awhile, I think it's more about milk proteins because milk and ice cream destroy me, but a lot of cheeses are fine

It could still be lactose intolerance if you're still consuming milk, it has a lot more lactose than most cheese does. Idk about ice cream but I'd assume it's still more than cheese.

Cheese is actually quite low in lactose compared to dairy products like milk, cream, and yogurt. Most contain less than 2 grams per serving (1 ounce), which is far less than the 12 to 13 grams of lactose you get in one serving (1 cup) of milk.

If you try it again try taking more lactase pills (more enzyme = more likely it'll properly digest all the lactose), make sure they're not weaker (they use a weird measuring system, the ones I use are 9000 FCC whatever that means), and maybe refrigerate them so the enzyme doesn't degrade

There's also lactose free milk (in addition to the soy/almond options) but doing the math it's cheaper to just use lactase pills than buying the lactaid milk

I have tried lactose-free milk in the past and experienced basically the same symptoms, but maybe I rolled a critical miss. I kinda like oat milk better now anyway.

I don't really understand what ibs means but I definitely have random terrible shits like 2-3 times a week, and maybe monthly I'll have an unprompted stretch of like 4 days of 5 diarrhea shits a day
