    Russia is not considered part of the global south because they industrialised pretty quickly after the revolution in 1917 and were a powerful country, with advanced military and manufacturing capabilities, and advanced civilian industry.

    If you really don't like the term just use periphery or third world. Even though they don't mean the exact same things, as many second world countries are also in the global south, it's better than malding over this nonsense.

    Russia’s not global south, as others have said.

    In world systems it’s either second world, the semi-periphery, or a minor core, depending on your preference.
