That's not what the study says. The study says that eating red meat and processed meat is correlated with cancer of the digestive system.
There is plenty of meat that is not processed and not considered red meat
The study even put Mediterranean diet as plant based. It is not plant based
oh my god, you mean not eating the corpses of other dead animals has health benefits??? what the fuck?
but what about lions? ever think about lions? you want lions to be vegan? you think you're pro-animal rights but you want lions to go vegan?
I mean gorillas are jacked af and vegan for the most part.
But it basically comes down to what proteins you can digest. For humans, most "complete proteins" in terms of containing all the ammino acids, are meat or animal products. In terms of plant based proteins, the only complete ones for humans are soy and quinoa. Its why vegan athletes are recommended to eat more protein in general
Would like to see a comparative study where the meat and vegan groups are given the same amount of fiber and phytonutrients from plant sources.
pure :cope: mode. carnists don’t get the same amount of fiber and phytonutrients from plant sources though, that’s kind of the point of the study
I sorted the thread by controversial cuz I hate myself. It was :chefs-kiss:
the guys having emotional breakdowns because humans didn’t evolve as pure carnivores is :what-the-hell:
Those fuckers have the palette of an 8 year old. Anti-veganism just proves all their high and mighty fake asceticism is bullshit. I'm vegan and I would argue it's because of my Catholic upbringing (my logic being is that you should minimize your impact on the environment, as pollution is sinful, because it ruins this beautiful earth and enacts suffering on innocents).
Noooo this is just vegan propaganda. Stop being anti-meaaaaat. We are caaaaaaarnivoooooooooores.
Now lemme go eat burgers and pizzas which are mostly (highly processed) wheat and veggies.
Yeah it’s a meta-analysis and doesn’t really have the same assumptions as I have about what’s “plant-based”. But I’m also a vegan commie so I’ll take what I can get.
:gigachad: "Great idea fascists, I certainly will not eat the bugs!"
I'm not trying to make a statement about veganism, it's just that we have that dedicated community for a reason.
Yea but that doesn’t mean every vegan post needs to be isolated into the vegan comm. I feel this article belongs as much in the vegan comm, as in science or news. Given that it’s all three.
Feel free to crosspost it wherever you want tho.
If this were a link to a science/news site or something, I'd agree, but it's a link to a site literally called "The Vegan Herald".
I mean as was pointed out to you it includes diets that include meat as part of the "plant based" group so yeah it is 1) bad science which makes it 2) not news
anyway I'm going to peace out from this thread because last time I told a vegan I didn't want to be vegan they told me they wanted me dead
while in our parlance, plant-based usually means vegan, the definition is quite broad, scientifically. it includes diets that are just "mostly plants", as was the case in this study, in order to contrast it to the standard amerikkkan diet in which people literally eat meat for every meal. (what the hell is wrong with y'all).
this doesn't make it "bad science" or "not news" no matter how much carnists want to nitpick and discredit it. either way, my reasoning for going vegan is not because "it makes you healthy!" anyways, its based around morality and opposing the extremely capitalist form of animal "agriculture".
tldr - go vegan.
I think you're being purposefully obtuse.
Look, I'm not in the mood for an online argument rn, so I'll agree to disagree.
