Last governor of NJ, ran in the Republican primary in 2016 and lost. Supposedly the first suggestion for Trump's VP and was part of his transition team but got dropped for Pence when members of Christie's administration were convicted for being part of a scandal where they closed lanes on the George Washington bridge to make traffic in Fort Lee, the town on the Jersey side, after the mayor didn't support Christie's bid for reelection.
AFAIK right now he's basically persona non grata politically. He was the most bellicose of the anti-Trump Republicans and Bridgegate ruined his career. NJ governor currently is a lib who legalized pot.
Not like for 6 years. When Trump won in 2016, but before the inauguration, there was talk about him getting appointed chief of staff. It didn't happen because Christie prosecuted Jared Kushner's dad in the 2000's, and Jared told Trump that Christie was a bad choice.
the crime that Kushner's dad did was kind of bonkers too. He was being investigated for illegal campaign contributions, and his brother in law was a former employee turned state's witness. So what does he do? bite the bullet and pay a fine? Nope! He tries to blackmail his brother in law. He gets a prostitute and pays her to entice the brother in law to have sex in a motel with a hidden camera, the recording is sent to his own sister, the witnesses wife. The blackmailed couple then just tell the Feds what's going on and what was once just lying to the FEC becomes that and tax evasion and retaliating against a federal witness.
also, who's chris christie
