Only adblocker you should use is uBlock Origin
Damnit, this joke is going to try and make me learn things, isn't it?
Don't worry, I can learn you real quick in a sentence or two!
In January 2023 Google is limiting what browser addons—specifically ad blockers—can and cannot do. They can still block visible advertisements, but a lot of the tracking server, browser fingerprinting, pattern recognition, and other shady stuff are now "protected" in the API. This means that while you still won't see "ads", Google now has free reign to harvest your personal information uninhibited, even if you have a blocker addon installed.
Does Firefox do the thing where you can search for presents for for family in a secret window? I like my family a lot and so this is a common use case.
You mean the incognito tab for "gift giving" without people being able to look at the browser history? Yes.
i know you're joking but it doesn't do that. it keeps the browser from storing history and cookies locally, but it doesn't prevent your ISP or any of the sites you're connecting to from gathering information on you.
gorhill is producing a MV3 version of uBlock Origin called uBO-Lite (changed from uBO-Minus). Github release page: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases Extensions page: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin-lite/ddkjiahejlhfcafbddmgiahcphecmpfh
It is interesting, because it doesn't require any additional browser permissions to run. It also does far less than the current uBO implementation, and it may never be as good. It was also just started weeks ago. Anyway, if for whatever reason you are absolutely wedded to Google's web browser, it may be the future of ad blocking for you.
I switched on both phone and PC.
But the hexbear app on phone has a white bar at the top of the screen for some reason.
:deeper-sadness:
I only use chrome on my phone for hexbear, everything else i use ff and thats just because of the white bar lol
Turn on dark mode on mobile ig. Chromium makes it hexbear grey while Firefox makes it purple
