idk. I feel like every subsequent huge disaster the US is less and less capable of responding. Like, how many people are going to be permanently displaced by this, and where will those refugees go? It's not like anyone can afford new housing.
Everything is gone out there, my family is right in the storm. Luckily for now my mom's house is dry, but my brother's rental is gone, their friends houses? Gone. Their workplaces? Gone. There's about to be tens of thousands of people with no shelter and no transportation (it's swept away countless cars already) in a place that is imminently hostile to anyone without a car or shelter.
