So yeah. This is probably going to be another humanitarian disaster that the government just allows to happen without making any real effort at relief, isn't it?

But it is funny and ironic when climate change deniers are hit with... What's this? Climate change. Still not as funny as when libs who do accept the reality but are not willing to make any sacrifices get hit with it

Seeing how Cuba rebuilds after Ian, compared to whatever half-assed nonsense Florida shits out, should be a very bleak demonstration of how terminally sick :amerikkka: really is. I hope the international community comes to Cuba's aid to help repair the damage and minimize loss of life as much as possible, my thoughts are with Cuba :fidel-salute:

A peninsula that recklessly farts out carbon emissions while stubbornly sticking its most expensive real estate directly into hurricane alley is the environmental apotheosis of Asking For It.

I hope honest, simple, salt of the earth people don't die. But I also hope a bunch of real estate developers get struck by lightning as proof of God's Wrath.

idk. I feel like every subsequent huge disaster the US is less and less capable of responding. Like, how many people are going to be permanently displaced by this, and where will those refugees go? It's not like anyone can afford new housing.

Everything is gone out there, my family is right in the storm. Luckily for now my mom's house is dry, but my brother's rental is gone, their friends houses? Gone. Their workplaces? Gone. There's about to be tens of thousands of people with no shelter and no transportation (it's swept away countless cars already) in a place that is imminently hostile to anyone without a car or shelter.

After the way Chris Christie got treated in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, I suspect Biden will be more than happy to give DeSantis the kiss of death while the governor simultaneous throws a fit about not getting help fast enough and hooks himself directly into the QAnon FEMA Death Camp hysteria machine.

Also wouldn't be surprised of we see Joe Manchin and Kirsten Sinema hold relief money hostage in exchange for some other big budget cuts.

And we'll continue kicking the climate change can down the road until coastal cities and towns just look like this all the time. Just today there was an ad by an "energy company" that stated that the "current energy crisis is about more than just climate change". It goes on to be a thinly veiled appeal to use more fossil fuels and what not. If I could find it some where I might just post it, but I'm so fucking tired of this BS.

Eventually, you're going to suffer enough structural damage such that its no longer possible to produce emissions at current rates. Flood enough airports. Knock down enough power lines. Sink enough harbors. Eventually the carbon consumption comes down.

Certainly. But the damage inflicted by the carbon released decades ago is destroying the carbon consuming infrastructure of today. And the carbon released today will inflict more damage in the future.

If all carbon waste stopped tomorrow, there would still be an environmental reckoning.

But a smaller one with lesser coat tails

All the news ghouls poking in to say "Hey sorry your entire world was just destroyed can we use your footage". I don't know, i feel like that just says somethinga bout the times but I'm not quite sure what.

News agencies are absolutely willing to pay people for footage. They have a set budget for buying footage from people. Never give your footage to the news for free. If a news agency wants to use your footage, get that bag.

"joe biden doesn't care about floridians" doesn't really have the same ring to it.

cuba dealing with their own shit but they'll probably find some doctors to offer to send and the US will turn them down as usual.
