yes i am very smart

Edit: Not this guy, but I also saw some say that Apple would come out with a charger that was "ten times faster than type c" if it weren't for the regulation, which is really funny bc that would be 2400W minimum, aka more than a North American breaker can even handle

apple has been taking hits on the charger thing recently they were also forced to provide charging cables with all their products in brazil, because not doing makes it a "venda casada" it would be like a "married sale" if i translated it directly i am not sure there is a word for this in english, which is pretty much when you buy something and that also forces you to buy another thing so you can actually use that and that is a big no no, sales crime, in the brazillian consumer right's code

It's called tying or product tying in English and it's illegal in the books in the US, but it simply isn't enforced except in some rare high profile suits against Apple or Microsoft.

oh i was searching for a translation and i think the use of "Married" on the portuguese term really messed up my search, but it think the brazilian version is closer to the european version of this as i am reading it now

I bought this beautiful charger and now they’re forcing me to buy a phone or something in order to be able to use it. Horrible

lmao, like that almost works on the law, but the charger still does what is supposed to do even if you don't own something that it charges, like it is still a cable and the use case of it still works, it is about usability you can't sell something that doesn't work, because a cellphone that has no charger is pretty much tech waste, it can't do the basic things a phone should do, like when you buy a cable you know what it does and the expected use case, a charger is still a charger even if you can't use, but a phone that doesn't turn on is pretty much not phone, and as you couldn't sell a phone that doesn't work you can't sell a phone that doesn't work without buying something else, it is really meta as how this works, but the consumer code is generally on the side of the consumer on most stuff so it is fine

Yeah absolutely. A charger without a phone and a charger with a phone plugged-in is about equally as fun - it’s just a damn charger . The same cannot he said for a dead vs alive phone
