    Russia traded them for like one rich fuck (connected to Putin). Even right wing Russian nationalists were cringing about this, and apparently the FSB had to be directly ordered by Putin to approve the exchange.

        Sure, but it will still hurt when much of the Russian support for the war is due to groups like Azov. Letting specifically literal nazis off is gonna be unpopular beyond people not seeing the long-game. Might be worth it, but complaints make sense

          I guess it's a gamble. On the one hand you're protecting your allies to show you haven't abandoned them, which is strategically important. On the other hand, Nazis.

      From what I remember he was the leader of one of the banned Ukrainian political parties who had traditionally been friendly with Russia. I guess there's some strategic value in showing your allies that you'll go out of your way to protect them. Idk if it was worth turning Nazis over, but you have to admit that this article is a brilliant pro-Russian propaganda piece for the Russians to say "Look we told you Ukraine was filthy with Nazis!"
