4 issues a year for Jacobin is crazyyy plus its 20 bucks so def not going for it. I just read the article on the Iran protests in Democracy Now (https://www.democracynow.org/2022/10/13/iran_mahsa_amini_islamic_republic_protests) and they don't mention the color rev potential especially with the US announcing new sanctions against Iran under the pretext of the protests pretty obviously because Iran is anti-Israel and has strong ties with China. And then Musk activating Starlink in Iran under the same pretext, definitely for the same or similar actual reasons. AlJazeera is hit or miss. I'm gonna try out CGTN.
Yeah over the years DemocracNow has sloooowly gone ever so mainstream in their coverage. They have excellent coverage of US domestic affairs, but yeah their foreign affairs leave something to be desired (Americans, amirite?)
And yeah AlJazeera has great journalism but is almost openly anti-communist/leftist in their coverage, it being owned/operated by a literal modern day Kingdom and all.
CGTN I haven't been listening to for very long but it's surprisingly good. They have very good interviews and segments mostly in English. The only thing that is a bit jarring are the not-so-occasional english dub-overs but their coverage of events seems to be on point, and it's nice to get the other side of the story when dealing with China and their affairs.
