This goober is literally doing the "50 bajillion dead, gommunist vuvuzela bad" meme in pretty much every other post. Also this lovely person is a crypto bro because of course they are. The masters of critical thinking over at antiwork are lapping it up but what else can you expect from . :reddit-logo:

In the United States this will get you two meals from McDonald's, so obviously it's much better

Now that we all know r/antiwork was hijacked into a legit op, is it possible to convince more people to discard win it back? We might as well leave drive these weirdos alone in out of their echo chamber, because otherwise that glow aint coming off anytime soon. Internet organizing was a fucking mistake.

EDIT: Correction - this unironically needs to be done for Reddit as a whole. Definition of "compromised" in literally every corner

EDIT 2: Actually fuck that. Dont abandon anything, just keep looking for ways to counter left-anticommunist propaganda. It might seem impossible now (hell, does to me) but imagine the catharsis once we finally turn :funny-clown-hammer: and his merry band of wreckers into a laughing stock

I wish I could stop reading reddit in general but I think I'm too much of a pain pig.

The largest groundswell of people newly disillusioned with capitalism and labor online has been infiltrated and coopted by anticommunists? Better just abandon it.

Honestly yeah, when you put it that way it does seem like a waste to abandon. In hindsight that was an overreaction, bc I'm struggling to think of a better solution.

The problem is, how do we deal with this particular kind of astroturf? Lib/chud anticommunists are often easier to handle bc they're attacking socialism from outside - we just need to bring ppl in. But in places like antiwork I notice more "left" anticommunists. It goes without saying, but they're especially tricky bc they try to act from within. They make their "anti-authoritarian," "more democratic" ideas sound like the logical next step to impressionable leftists. There are ways to outsmart them on that, but the biggest issue imo is in talking the indoctrinated back out of it. The kinds of talking points and social norms theyre taught will convince them they're more left-wing than you by default, bc they embraced a Better, More Wholesome Approach to socialism and you didn't. Eventually, instead of rejecting socialism, they mutate it into something completely different and insist they're still socialists. So if you try to reach them, they can assume you're attacking socialism from outside, as a "tankie".

Like I said, there are definitely effective ways to handle this, and I now realize we can't just ignore them. So if anyones had success doing this, keep it up

lol antiwork is not that bad. and the response isn't to just abandon it, otherwise r/chapotraphouse wouldn't have been banned.

I don't know if it's the same person but I was looking at one earlier. One a week, hitting all the subs like r/pics, r/mildlyinfurating, r/antiwork, etc. Apparently they were from Venezuela but they were also into crypto and blaming the country's problem on central banks.

I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to put together a wiki for countering common propaganda like this online. For example, there were many documented improvements that happened as a result of Chavez gaining power, and I researched this long ago for some argument on Reddit, but the comment is long gone and it would take me time to dig up the stats again. Having some kind of a peer reviewed document to draw from would make that much more simple. Maybe it’s a terrible idea, but just throwing it out there.

Also, this lib-friendly Bloomberg talks about how quality of life improved under “Venezuelan socialism”: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2013-03-07/venezuelans-quality-of-life-improved-in-un-index-under-chavez

Much of the issues that have come up since Chavez died can be attributed to US sanctions and economic manipulation.

100% of what you make working for minimum wage in the United States goes to your fucking landlord.
