Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)

Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Unironically I’m starting to think the joke strategy for Taiwanese reunification of just passive aggressively building a bridge to Taiwan is actually not a horrible idea lmfao

Without considering national security, Taiwan would be stupid to not want it really. It would be such a huge economic benefit that even capitalists would be all in on it, completely undermining politicians being against it for independence purposes

until the intelligence state blows it up bc its cozying up to communists or whatever theyll say. they will definitely say, however, that china and/or russia did it to sow tension

it would be preceded by months or years of elected american officials giving statements about their steadfast opposition to the bridge, including at least one undersecretary and the president both saying the bridge will be stopped only a few months before they allege that China blew up their own bridge in a false flag attack

Quite the long fucking bridge though, 100km approx just using the little scale in the corner of Google maps. Maybe a tunnel would work better?

Nvm; the longest bridge in the world is 168km and is in China, proven wrong immediately lmao

Do Taiwanese not regularly go to the mainland and mingle with people? Cause this is how you get mingling and understanding.

The US/UK could just blow it up, reunifying them again for approximately 4 hours until it was fixed.

Status quo is the most popular, and China willing to wait and negotiate. But the current yank puppet in Taipei break the status quo and reject the 1992 consensus and now hammer the populace with constant propaganda of sinophobia. Of course China have to meddle or it’ll turn into another Ukraine situation

You have repeatedly defended the Maidan coup and said compared Ukraine to Palestine. You comments have been removed several times and you keep doing it, check the modlog if you don’t believe me

Lol I haven’t once defended or given any opinion one way or the other on Ukraine’s actions prior to the invasion. The last 2 comments I’ve had removed were ones where I called richest man on earth Elon Musk a dipshit and I think another comment where I criticized Putin for saying this war was necessary to combat the gay propaganda of the West or something similar the other week. Pretty sure the Ukraine = Palestine thing I walked back in my next comment but that was in reference to the rhetoric a Russian military leader had been using.

But sure just blatantly lie that I’ve “repeatedly defended the Maidan coup” while I’ve never done so in my life lmao

Edit: never mind none of my comments on Putin’s homophobia were removed, 2 were sarastic Elon comments and the other was the Ukraine comparison with Palestine one, all were dumb comments that warranted removal I suppose but I’ve still never defended NATO or the Maidan coup on here.

        remain independent

Lmao. Love that you always show up to defend Ukraine and Taiwan and compare Russia to Israel

It’s not “meddling” for China to do things in China.

I've heard the same, but unfortunately I don't think the people of Taiwan realistically have a say in their own fate here. This is a conflict between China wanting their island back and America wanting to keep their colony. Taiwanese civilians are just caught in the crossfire.

With this plan they would at least get a nice bridge out of it.

A sweet long ass bridge is always nice. China has some very long ones already but I’d be scared traveling on that one with the US lurking in the water

        Taiwan want to remain independent

No they don't. The government of Taiwan wants Reunification just as much but under their ( fascist ) government not the CPC. Both Taiwan and mainland China agree that there is only 1 China. The only argument is over which government is the real one, the communists government or the that fascists government.

RoC and all its supporters are Crypto-Fascists.

I was referring to the majority of people not the government. I’m pretty sure only a small minority want to either actively move toward reunification or declare independence right now. According to this poll the majority want to maintain the status quo for the time being: https://esc.nccu.edu.tw/PageDoc/Detail?fid=7801&id=6963
