So her Grandpa was a Nazi collaborator writing a newpaper for the Nazis? Can't blame someone for her family.

So her family fled to Canada from Ukraine after the war? Sure, lots of people did and they weren't all OUN-B scum

So her current role beating the war drums for Ukraine is exactly what a Banderite would do? Okay, yes, but it's also what a bloodless neoliberal warmonger would do and there's no shortage of them.

But here's a weird one. Back in 1995 she wrote a review of a book, otherwise mostly ignored, that details how a Ukrainian man living in Cleveland was wrongfully accused of being a nazi camp guard at Treblinka! The book is about all the hardship he went through to prove that he was not that guard. A total miscarriage of justice it seems!

I mean, in the end, it turns out he was a guard at Sobibor and was found to be an accomplice in the murder of about 30,000 people. He just wasn't the guard they thought he was.

Probably just a coincidence that Chrystia pulled this one story out of the pile to review for the Financial Times.

Honestly if anyone wants to go digging around and see if they can find a picture of her with OUN-B members or any old Ukrainian war criminals, we only really need one more nail to close the coffin and say conclusively that a Banderite Nazi holds a high office in Canada.

Ooh! Bingo! They got her with the Blood und Soil scarf with the OUN-B Slogan? Too perfect, I love it. 10/10. Excellent work. :fidel-salute:

They're not wrong about it being a KGB tactic. When you've got a bunch of Ukrainian Nazis running around it would be foolish for the KGB to not just say "Sure are a lot of Ukrainian Nazis in Canada".

Natalia Khanenko-Friesen, director of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, told the National Post that the red-and-black symbology for Ukraine long predates its adoption by extremist groups. Khanenko-Friesen noted that red-and-black banners can be seen in paintings depicting the Cossack Hetmanate, a period of Ukrainian Cossack rule that began in the 17th century.

The black represents the Ukrainian soil, while the red symbolizes blood — although Khanenko-Friesen (a scholar of Ukrainian folklore) said it’s not traditionally understood as blood in any violent context. “Blood as life, as blossom, and not as blood lost in battles,” she said. Red and black remains a common colour scheme in traditional Ukrainian embroidery.

I can't believe they just openly said "Yeah it's a blood and soil flag". Jesus fucking christ.

I've seen people pull this in the wild. Like this week I was trying to get people to stop Slava Ukraining and I was trying to explain Bandera and the UPA and they're like "Well I guess we should just yell and buddhists too" and it's :sicko-surveillance: "

Why are people so fucking eager to come up with the most implausible fucking shit instead of just admitting that if it looks like a Nazi, quacks like a Nazi, and goosesteps like a Nazi it's a fucking Nazi?

Ugh and then someone else was like "Oh you're really obsessed with Nazis lol" and it's like yeah motherfucker there were fascists with AR15s in my neighborhood in 2020 it's kind of fucking personal.

because they are sympathetic to nazis

              which probably makes them nazis

hoped that helped, it’s horrible, I know.

I'm really obsessed with Redback Spiders and Tiger Snakes because I know exactly where they are likely to live and what they look like.... because I don't want them to kill me.

The easy counterpoint to Russian claims of Ukrainian neo-Nazism are that there are no Nazi states headed by a Jewish president

Deputy PM and Finance Minister, formerly Foreign Affairs Minister. She's a conservative deficit hawk who has been signaling that big austerity is coming and as Foreign Affairs Minister she praised the coups in Venezuela and Bolivia while sending tons of aid dollars and military training to Ukraine, even after it came out about the neonazi affiliations.

Don't forget she was banned from the USSR after working with Ukrainian nationalist groups as a college student in the 80s and her mother drafted the post-Soviet constitution of Ukraine.

Eh. I feel like I need a really good case to sell this to libs who are deeply enmeshed in the Western Ukraine narrative. "The Deputy Prime Minister of Canada is a multi-generational sleeper agent for a WWII era Fascist conspiracy and is using her role to push the west in to an apocalyptic war to complete the task her Nazi ancestors failed at so long ago" is completely unhinged batshit pants on head woo woo conspiracy nonsense if I can't prove her connections very convincingly.

Didn't she also go to school in Ukraine to allegedly take Ukranian language courses (while her entire family is Ukranian), but then somehow this random student was also such close friends with the Canadian ambassador to Ukraine that she was allowed unrestricted access to the fucking diplomatic pouch?
