My personal favorite for flawed reasons is Madoka because I was there for the live reactions to the infamous episode and it was magical watching everyone lose their shit. It was also my re-introduction to anime after being shamed out of it for liking sailor moon as a kid.

    IDK if it counts as a deconstruction, but Axiom Verge is a spiritual successor to Metroid and makes game mechanics out of all the glitchiness in NES-era games. One of the first powerups lets you fidget against walls and clip through them, and you can bug out objects/enemies to make them act like different ones.

      That one has been sitting in my Steam list for years now, but I only recently got used to the idea of playing PC games with a controller, and as someone who cut their teeth on the NES I think I'll give it a shot, based on your analysis.
