I can imagine they have some machine learning shit going on which recognizes (leftist) users, by feeding it the type of subs you're subscribed to, the website you're coming from, the type of content you upvote, click, etc.
I mean, that's probably going on too, but what I've suspected is that we're all flagged as CTH users and whenever reddit detects a subreddit with a critical mass of CTH users and not enough nonCTH users, they mark that subreddit as a ban evasion subreddit.
