Very slight change of plans: I'll begin the updates next Monday instead of this Friday. So this week will have no updates. Dang. So y'all better post hard enough to make up for it. But not so hard that we get past 1000 comments by the end of the week.

Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)

Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

We had Lars Løkke Rasmussen, former prime minister for the liberal party and now likely kingmaker after the election on Saturday with his new moderate party. He is an evil reactionary asshole but he is also really funny.

His big problem is that he is very bad at personal finances and consequently he needs to get somebody to pay for his stuff.

He is thoroughly corrupt but in a ridiculously petty way, like filing receipts for a pack of cigarettes or some pints of beer to have the government refund it. Or trying to get the government to pay for a hotel room he rented using a fake name. When his party decided to buy him some tailored suits so he wouldn't look too shabby on TV he managed to get them to pay for his underwear as well.

Public coffers are not the only ones paying for his lifestyle. A local oligarch who owned a bunch of trawlers paid for Rasmussen's stay in a nice but modest vacation home and suddenly legislation benefiting trawler-owning oligarchs was passed.

He was also funny as a representative abroad. Once he went to an EU summit and only spoke once, that was to ask for a smoko. Another time he was presiding over a failed climate conference in Copenhagen and hit the table with his gavel exclaiming to the gathered heads of state "I am banging the table!"
