      it's also bad because it usually comes with strings attached. Like "We'll give you food aid but first you have to take out these high interest loans from the IMF and privatize all your nationalized industries and allow foreign investment and crack down on labor unions and lower corporate taxes and relax safety and financial regulations and .... "

      also western "food" aid is sometimes a straight up trojan horse for getting weapons to right wingers planning a "totally organic and supported by the population" coup "revolution"
