Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or if this is just my own paranoia. But literally ever since Musk took over Twitter, my feed is NOTHING but retweets or "follows" of people following him, or some other GOP disgusting schmuck.

Sometimes its famous GOP people like Ted cruz, sometimes its just rando fucks ive never even heard of yet.

Not to get all conspiracy brained but if there WAS some kind of algorithm that kept these things from my feed before, its definitely fucking turned off now.

I've never been convinced that twitter is worth using in the first place.

I don't think it's conspiracy brain when every aspect of this event is perfectly in line with what we know about the history and behavior of all parties involved

    :dril:

turning a big dial taht says "Racism" on it and constantly looking back at the audience for approval like a contestant on the price is right.

The wacko shit adds that I recall seeing on y*utube during the Trump admin:

The adds: Join knights templar , Video lectures for anti-"islamization" , coffee co. that visits Afghan warzones for publicity , every type of ultra theocratic university in the US , read Ep*ch Times! , Slavic or Asian brides match-making service , innumerable grifter tech bro "lecture courses" , woowoo magic cure-alls , I don't remember it all but wow damn geez oof.

I don't log into twitter that much, but I feel like it has been more smelly the last few days. It might just be the increased activity surrounding him. The pro trick is to just not use twitter (I wish the people I cared about following weren't on there, but whatever). The less pro trick, I guess, would be to block his account.

So glad that I got permabanned from Twitter for insulting Nazis too many times literally right after he bought it. I might be dodging a bullet

I browse Twitter exclusively through my own lists of commies and local stuff and anti-cop stuff so nope my Twitter feed is glorious.

Yeah. They've definitely fucked with something. I'm getting Elon Musk and Kim Dotcom directly in my feed several times a day (not just people quote-tweet dunking on them) along with a bunch of other Randian libertarian grifters using the recent coverage about social media platform state collaboration to imply that the Democrats are solely responsible. Brainwormed anti-liberals like Matt Taibbi showing up a lot more than they normally do.

I logged on for the first time in a good week or two and the first SIX posts were either Elon or a response to Elon and I just closed it immediately

I’ve been on consistent streak for a while now of not spending more than a couple of glimpses on any social media.

However, Twitter traditionally has been the place to find out about things in real time.

But the place has become a complete utter joke, probably since the Trump Derangement. Maybe for longer the “trending” list has been so fucking milquetoast, out of touch, Disneyfied Neoliberal celebrity and sensationalist garbage it’s so depressing to look at.

For example there’s been nothing at all on the Iranian protests. But every single fucking day now for months you can see a link practically begging you to find out the latest in the war in UkraineMania.

I dont think this is so much CONSPIRACY as how the algorithm works, its already tilted towards right wing stuff (cuz we live in a society) but the Musk Rats probably came out in force after he bought it. Big spike in activity from the "we wont accept the jews" crowd.

The way to browse Twitter is to use your own personal lists that's organized around a particular topic (hobbies, news, memes, and so forth). Trying to browse Twitter using the nightmarish maelstrom that is the timeline is a recipe for disaster. My experience browsing Twitter through lists is well enough while my timeline is a complete mess because it's tweets that are wildly divergent in topic and tone all jumbled together plus more bullshit the algorithm purposely put there to make me mad.
