      They think it's some kind of privilege, meanwhile most of Twitter users (correctly) don't want to give away their personal information that would give them that blue checkmark in the first place. Bluecheck no longer being used to verify identity is just insane.

      When you're a public figure, wanting a verified official account and avoiding impersonators can be a pretty big deal. I wouldn't want that kind of exposure, either, but if i already was exposed by, idk, being a semi-popular podcaster or musician or w/e, i wouldn't want some troll to be able to put out fake statements in my name.
