Hey, let's get sex advice from an institution where nobody has been allowed to have a healthy relationship in a thousand years.

Cathloc Church in 800ad "hey, priests can marry, dudes can marry each other if they want to, and hey, we're not gonna check the genitals of anyone who wants to be a priest too closely because who cares?"

Catholic Church in 21st century: "we're deeply hurt that you accused us of being a cult of child rapists at a time when we're paying out unprecedented settlements for raping so many children"

I read somewhere, perhaps on this site, that the church banned marriage in order to prevent priests from having kids. No kids means no inheritance, so the priests' property would instead pass to the church after their death.

Specifically, from having kids born in wedlock, who could legally inherit their property. Having bastards was fine by them, and the church actually has a secret fund to pay alimony for kids fathered by priests until this day.
