... reminder that 82% of Catholic priests report regularly fearing allegations of sexual abuse against them. Something that is definitely very normal to live in fear of for people that do absolutely nothing wrong.

I read somewhere, perhaps on this site, that the church banned marriage in order to prevent priests from having kids. No kids means no inheritance, so the priests' property would instead pass to the church after their death.
Specifically, from having kids born in wedlock, who could legally inherit their property. Having bastards was fine by them, and the church actually has a secret fund to pay alimony for kids fathered by priests until this day.

The issue is absolutely not any kind of paraphilia. It's men who have social power using it to control and abuse people who do not. I hate that it's become complete normal to refer to abuse of teenagers with the language of mental health. It obscures the reality of abusive social, religious, and cultural power relationships.
