Edit: More recent update on his situation after a fund raiser raised enough for him to avoid homelessness:

"The real issue isn’t whether or not someone like me should be able to access MAID. It’s whether or not we, as a society, wish to continue making people’s lives miserable and hopeless enough that suicide – assisted or otherwise – becomes a viable option. Or whether we are willing to choose to take steps that would make these people’s lives bearable enough that they won’t need to."

Edit 2: Medical assistance suicide under Capitalism and under the hands of the government is a horrible idea without any proper safeguards from abuse https://twitter.com/Lefty_Mind/status/1595443123324436481

This man has a bevy of very painful conditions that requires a lot of pharmacological pain management. In Ontario, I believe it's all covered for him.

He's also on Ontario social benefits, which is something like $1200 a month. His landlord is selling the property he's renting, and he will not be able to afford market rate rent.

This is like the 3rd Ontarian who is choosing MAID (or was considering it) because they can't get adequate social housing.

Things like this has happened for as long as the rulers of this world has decided to have poverty. Desperate people do desperate things, like killing themselves. What's new is how the official bureaucratic process of MAiD puts the social murder out in the open for everyone to see. It's really hard for liberals to hide this away in some statistic or do the usual superficial handwringing about mental health when the guy is standing there and telling how he would rather die than live in the world they have created for him.
