Top 5 were Rap, Rock, Underground Hip Hop, Pop, Alternative Hip Hop (lol the genres are dumb)

My top 5 artists:

  1. Saba
  2. G Herbo
  3. Denzel Curry
  4. Vince Staples
  5. JID

Top 10 songs:
Denzel Curry - Walkin
Jesse Winchester - Step by Step
Denzel Curry - X-Wing
Pusha T - Brambleton
Vince Staples - AYE! (FREE THE HOMIES)
Saba - Fearmonger (ft. Daoud)
Rico Nasty - Gotsta Get Paid
Pusha T - Call My Bluff
Denzel Curry - Troubles (ft. T Pain)
Saba - Come My Way (ft. Krayzie Bone)

No real surprises here, lots from the new Saba, Denzel and Pusha albums. Kinda surprised I didn't have any songs from the new JID album in the top 10, and that Rico Nasty wasn't in my top 5 artists.

Also, shoutout to The Wire for showing me Step by Step, the only non-rap song in my top 10

Like the algorithm was cobbled together bullshit. I got the whole spiel with "ohhh so many genres" and then it was like punk, true punk, alternative punk and indie punk. I couldn't even tell you which bands I listen to fit into what

Last year was even worse, I think it had me at like 130 genres but each city had it's own genre of hip hop

I hate when I casually like a song that the algorithm recommends, and then they shove it in my ears every single day for the rest of my life.

I don't use Spotify, since they don't pay shit to artists and their CEO is a proud war profiteer.

When last.fm's yearly report comes out i'll share that.

Also, I think "Glitchcore" was invented to solve the problem that there's a lot of Breakcore-adjacent music being produced nowadays that really doesn't fit into Breakcore proper, while also not really fitting well into Jungle or DnB either. So at some point people just came up with Glitchcore as a new genre/sub-genre to try and avoid confusion. I also know that bye2 refers to their music as "Orbcore," presumably at least partially for a similar reason.

That makes sense, I usually just arbitrate it as jungle or breakcore though. Idk how I feel about calling it glitchcore tbh, I think bye2 just calls it orbcore for fun lol.
