My sister’s favorite western cartoon is Avatar. She recognizes the themes of war, racism, and colonialism.

My brother’s favorite movie is Avatar (James Cameron)

They’re both racist conservatives lol. My brother is even a Reaganite even though he never lived through his presidency. ( I feel like it’s one thing to be a fan of historical figures you’ve never lived under like :lenin-sure: but Reagan is a modern figure lol).

one of my coworkers says black people don't get to complain about slavery, because his white grandfather also picked cotton on a plantation...the plantation that he owned. He's also said things like if people want free tuition to college, they should just get good at golf and get a golf scholarship like he did...through one of his relative's country clubs.

I don't know how this guy works with me if his family is so rich, btw. It's not a high level position or anything

My brother doesnt believe that discrimination exists based on race and sexuality when it comes to jobs. Well he has tattoos (that he can hide if asked to) and didnt talk about being straight so obviously it's just that easy :shrug-outta-hecks: Apparentely owners just don't care what the employee is as long as they do their job.

Oh and all those cases where a racist fucknut didnt hire someone based on their skin colour? Yeah, can't even imagine that so it's not true. What? You havent personally been discriminated against? Well it just doesnt exist then.

      god i swear sometimes :agony-shivering:

I've had to walk my coworkers through how at-will employment is effectively hiring/firing discrimination that one can easily hide. It's really difficult in at-will states to prove cases of discrimination outside of direct evidence of slurs being thrown around or written company policy. An employer can fire someone because they say they don't like the worker's personality, but in reality it's because the employer's a bigot. Employers don't have to admit they're racist or transphobic or anything, there's no mechanism to put pressure on employers outside of a union or calling in the (ugh) ACLU.

Workplaces just have to put up the equal opportunity employer thing in their hiring procedure and that's as effective as a shield they need.

Except my coworkers just said like, "Yeah, but if everyone figured out that the boss is a racist, no one will work for them." Yes, because nobody in America works for a racist.
