    This feels like a good place to say I used to have an 80s Raleigh with tube shifters that didn't click, they were just infinitely moveable levers

    I got a little better at it but that was kinda dangerous tbh. Fun though

        I'm guessing like a bike version of a CVT transmission. No gears, just tapered cylinders that side along each other giving you infinite ratios

        No that's dumb, you couldn't fit something like that on a bike

          Check out the Enviolo, does literally that. It's fairly squarely E-Bike territory however because you get CVT power loss from it
