How do you know it's a fixie, 7bicycles? you might ask to which I say look at it
This content is stolen from /r/justridingalong on reddit, which is a pretty good sub if you're into bikes and wanna see some botched shit
this seems more of a leaving the port when the front fell off situation here
That's green wood, it has some flexibility before it breaks at least. I still wouldn't do it, unless I was riding my bike home on a bike trail from getting my handlebars stolen.
Yeah but it's also clamped to the bark which is already delaminating so unless you want to have surprise fun slippery slidey handlebars I'd argue walking is still your best bet, even if it sucks
yeah this works until it doesn't at which point you suddenly have many problems and very little time to do anything about them
oh for sure but thinking ahead is a luxury sometimes, this is the kind of thing i'd expect someone to do when they're broke
a standard flat bar can be had for like 8€ new
and yeah, maybe someone doesn't have that or macgyvered it on the side of the road but even then, just walk. I don't see a scenario where risking riding a literal random stick, brakeless, is worth the danger
Going by my absolutely correct without proof theory of "it's a fixie", by pedaling slower or skidding.
EDIT: allthough skidding does require you to put most of your weight on the handlebars which you definitely do not want to be doing here so I'd say it's either pedaling slower or by hitting an obstacle
Technically possible, but going by the fact that it's a steel frame, narrow front tyres, an unused cantilever stop mounted on the front and the fact that they chose to ride a random stick I'd argue this is a fixie
Instead of converting momentum into heat via friction of break pads, the bike uses regenerative braking to recharge the rider.
I'm sad cuz I typed out a good comment but the website ate it when I hit submit. It was a joke about the handlebranch snapping when I lean forward to do a skid and absolutely bashing my parts onto the top tube and stem
This feels like a good place to say I used to have an 80s Raleigh with tube shifters that didn't click, they were just infinitely moveable levers
I got a little better at it but that was kinda dangerous tbh. Fun though
I'm guessing like a bike version of a CVT transmission. No gears, just tapered cylinders that side along each other giving you infinite ratios
No that's dumb, you couldn't fit something like that on a bike
Check out the Enviolo, does literally that. It's fairly squarely E-Bike territory however because you get CVT power loss from it
That's the bike John Henry rode when he took on the steam shovel.
If I ever get to name a band it will be John Henry and the Steam Shovels.
this might be ride-able with one hand on the stem at all times and the other levering turns going very slowly ofc
