Isn't that just coding for any big project is? Like some games I like will have code commented out like //Don't touch this, I don't know why it works

This reads like he's never seen code before and is trying to sound important

I think programmers copy pasting code they may not know exactly how it works isn't quite on the same level as Fred Flintstone here having an epiphany while trying to understand the basics of server architecture.

Forget code, he never worked on anything before and is trying to sound important lol.

Coding is one of the few endeavors where we can make something so complicated no individual can fully understand it, it's great.

Musk tried to move PayPal servers from Linux to windows server before getting fired lmao.

Imagine trying to control PayPal servers with convoluted PowerShell commands and the broken messes that the the MMC template windows

Powershell didn't exist yet, the old fashioned windows way was to use vbscript I think. Which really sucks because Microsoft did not document vbscript well at all, doing anything with it was always browsing through old forum threads. Idk how the generation of it people before mine dealt with windows, vbscript must've been maintained by oral tradition at that point

Marketing and talking confidently. You can convince anybody that you're hot shit that people can't get enough of with the right attitude and marketing team behind you.

Stupid engineers building in automated redundancy. Such waste! Let's just pull out one thing at a time until it breaks. This is good business. Imagine the server savings!

Twitter's research department were at the cutting edge of caching, using entirely new non-slab-based memcache clones and other cool shit in rust that would have meant you could turn those servers off as a result of good engineering. Instead, Musk is just switching off expensive stuff because he's a complete dunce.

A blanket is but a series of strings, bound together in an interconnected web. Much like the interwebs we post on today.

People make fun of that statement but IIRC his analogy was about data throughput and pretty much spot on.

blanket sounds like a hilarious name for some kind of interwoven 2d/3d linked list data structure.

It's actually pretty crazy how the release of this movie coincided with Musk's downfall, considering it looks like the movie was made during the deep pandemic
