at the end of the day they’re professionals doing a job and people gaining their political outlook from twitch streams just strike me as politically fickle

It's not unlike the clergy that were there, alongside the people, during the early stages of the Russian revolution(s). Yes, they contributed, and yes, they were even crucial to some key moments, but relying on them or counting on them standing for a movement and not for themselves for long is a mistake.
