I have seen the movie and show myself and want to show them to my partner who has never seen either. I'm trying to decide what order I want them to watch it in.

I watched it in order of release but I'm just wondering if it may be a better experience to watch the show before the original film for someone going in blind? Any thoughts? I'm honestly on the fence about it.

I'd recommend the movie first. The series didn't quite match up on the story 100% if I remember correctly and the movie might not be as enjoyable after the much longer, newer series. Pretty decent series though.

Yeah that was a big worry of mine, I would be devastated if my partner didn't enjoy the movie or got bored of it after watching the series.

It's a fair concern. Even though I felt it held up pretty well for a movie from my childhood, it still doesn't have the shine of the newer series.

I think the show assumes you know a little bit about the world of Dark Crystal, so I'd go with the movie first.

We watched the show not long after it had come out, before having seen the movie (maybe my gf saw it when she was a kid, but I def hadn’t).

I thought the show was so good that you will 100% want to watch the movie afterwards, and didn’t find the missing context to be a big problem

Especially if you watch that “how we made it” fake episode of the show, that was absolutely mind-blowing. No way I could pass on the movie after all that
