I wonder what superhero movies would look like if they were predominantly were animated rather than live action. MODOK is gonna look goofy no matter how you make him, but I feel like it would work a ton better in 2D rather that cheap CGI. I wish animators were more respected in Hollywood. So much of fantasy just doesn’t work in live action and the increasingly weird comic book stuff they make as they scrape the bottom of some barrels for stuff just won’t translate from 2D medium to 3D medium. Super heroes, dragons, robots, all of it looks better in 2D than these CGI rush jobs

Very true. WB animation department did a lot of heavy lifting getting these characters in front of new audiences especially the teens and kiddos. Also superb animation in pretty much every iteration and installment (storytelling varies but is mostly strong too)

Justice League animated is some of the only capeshit I can tolerate.

      That is extremely expensive CGI.

Marvel simply has no pre-vis or a real vision of what they want it to be before filming.

Also demanding fully animated everything, then switching decisions on materials and colors and costumes after the work was done.

It looks like shit because this is the vision of the higher ups.
