If adult swim is known for anything it’s canceling their hit tv shows. You know how early Hollywood had a rural purge, if Rick and morty is canned I’m going to call the period from when they canceled metalocylipse to Rick and morty the dudebro purge.

That and Moral Oral wouldn't have gotten canceled for the last season not being funny

It wasn't supposed to be funny, it was a god damned work of art

That's a really good comparison. Everyone in Venture Brothers was either pathetic or an asshole or both, but it had a very humanistic quality. Like there was a lot of pathos in the mix.

Whereas Rick and Morty is just one of the meanest, most misanthropic, nihilistic shows I've ever seen. Just constantly mocking people for feeling or caring about anything.

Just constantly mocking people for feeling or caring about anything.

So that is to say it's the perfect pairing for these extremely online times.

I kept getting the vibe of characters being white losers that fail upwards that we're supposed to be sympathetic for. Really love that show, but every now and then I get that vibe.

I wouldn't be surprised if they knew the entire time and have been planning for the day the news broke. R&M isn't just a show; it's lunchboxes, shot glasses, and toys. You milk that shit as long as possible, and don't let anyone get in the way. Look at what WB is doing on behalf of Ezra Miller for a potential Flash hit.

My question is will the Red Letter Media guys memory hole another episode made with a creep shortly before allegations of misconduct came out.

Always got bad vibes from Roiland.

Weird how my hunches about people are almost always correct. I have a great "shitty person" detector.

It's bad when Dan Harmon is the one who's reigning in your creepiness (this coming from someone who's a fan of Harmon's work but is fully aware of his very big flaws and fucked up actions in the past)

I basically assume any person who would make a product like Rick and Morty is a complete scumbag. I hate that show, but more I hate the attitude and worldview it promulgates and normalizes.

I've never watched it enough to know what attitude and worldview it normalizes. Could it be described as anything other than "lib shit"?

I'd refute that it espouses much 'lib shit', if at all. The worldviews people seem to hate about it are nihilism and 'one guy can do everything'ism, but I've never seen the show actually depict those as particularly overly good things.

Kinda disagree. South park is the most nihilistic show on TV. It is functionally the same show except all the characters revel in their sins. Rick and Morty says it is about nihilism. Then it constantly shows it character's unhappy. The only time anyone on the show is meaningfully written as happy or winning is when they are just nice to each other. So it is about alienation and being trapped in it.

They have maybe one more season left and they don't need Justin to do it. I suspect they'll sideline him while he buys his way out of the judicial system.

Metalocalypse was good but I have no idea how the movie ended up so terrible, only good song was the flashback to Toki's audition for the band and that Thriller parody was just bizarre and cringe

The story was mostly forgettable but they tried to tie up most of the show's loose ends and maybe calling it a movie was wrong (I think it was just an hour long special now that I think about it)

Still, the music was mostly terrible and like I already said there was one good song in that hour

Meanwhile the episode where Pickles goes to rehab was a fantastic rock opera with nothing but good music for the whole 22 minutes

One of the executive producers for AS hated Metalacolypse and the fan petition to bring it back for the last season pissed him off.

This is what "The customer is always right in matters of taste" means. If your customer wants lime green boots you don't tell them that lime green boots are hideous. You sell them lime green boots.

No, no "customer is always right in matters of taste", only "customer is always right in matters of being allowed to psychologically abuse customer service employees"

Chuy's, bring back Chili Rellenos and start executing customers that condescend to your servers. Please.

It looks like they are going out of their way to kill off the hero worship part of their fandom. Just going increasingly far to prove rick is a bad unhappy person and being correct isn't enough. Which of course, the most probelmatic fans never understood

they paid for 70 episodes so there's 40 left to make

they'll keep their heads down and then the next season shows up in like two years once roilands trial has been sufficiently memory holed
