I've never had nausea with up to 3.5 grams but I usually make tea and that might be why.

Bring 12 oz of water to a simmer in a small stock pot.

Add pulverized dried shrooms (they should be mostly powder, some chunks are fine). Turn the burner down to the lowest it can go, just enough to keep it hot but no visible boiling. Steep 10 minutes.

Add 1 tsp of lemon juice and stir. Add a tea packet (I prefer peppermint tea) and steep another 10 minutes.

Filter the whole thing through a mesh coffee filter. Add a tbsp or two of sugar and drink warm.

Disclaimer: the lemon juice greatly reduces the come up time and you might want to leave that out for your first go around. Usually with the lemon I start to feel the effects within 10 minutes and I'm well on my way to space within 45 minutes.

This does not taste great, but IMO it's much easier than eating them. It doesn't like taste mushroom, more like dirty peppermint tea. Best method is to wait until it's cool enough to chug, and have another drink or a snack that you can cleanse your palate with between chugs.

You gotta try adding lots of grated ginger and tons of honey to your tea! I don't even use tea leaves or bags, just plain water and it tastes amazing for me

I just use mesh because paper will probably clog up very quickly. Shouldn't be much of a difference either way, you theoretically will lose some more of the good stuff on the paper filters but it wouldn't be a noticeable amount.

I haven't experimented with anything less than 12 oz but it should be doable, you will need to be more careful about not accidentally boiling off too much water with a smaller volume. It's hard to gauge any kind of variables with shrooms because every trip is so different and it takes 2 weeks for the tolerance to clear completely, so good luck remembering exactly how you felt by then.
