Cringe USA butt-rocking out to AC/DC while based China is enjoying Bowie.
David Bowie is by far the most based option here in the entire world haha
Senegal gets a shout-out too for Hendrix
Yeah I fucking love Queen, should listen to them more often
Kurt loved the Beatles though and he was right to
Today I learned classic rock is 1960 to 2000.
I wish Vietnam were CCR heads.
These kinds of maps are often just reporting random noise in the data, but despite that, I now think a little less of the countries who listen to AC/DC or Guns N' Roses on this
wow Queen is really popular
Uganda and Cuba are the coolest
"Classic Rock", meaning Anglo bands.
Unfortunately, at least in continental Europe you're way more likely to hear a song by an American band than any domestic music - especially old music - outside of rare niche radio stations.
And even now that radio has become less prevalent, culture is simply too americanized to reverse that trend.
I remember reading a pamphlet from the PCF from back in the 50s arguing about how american imperialism won't just be an economic stranglehold on Europe but also a cultural one through the promotion of cosmopolitanism as a vector supplant the respective national cultures of Europe with the American culture, akin to how invasive plant species can overrun local flora.
I think Rammstein's song 'Amerika' pretty much summarizes the whole concept in a catchy song
there really are boomers everywhere. wonder how much of this data is skewed by expats from the US and Europe.
for some reason Springsteen in Norway and Chicago in Oman are sending me.
Springsteen is living proof of that line about living long enough to become the villain. :yes-honey-left:
Songs like "Rust belt guy needs a new job after the plant shut down", "Used Cars", "Pregnant woman on public transportation", "Factory", "Eating toast in a diner"
I'm not trying to be insulting either, but whoosh. He also has a song called Used Cars, and I took most of the others from his lyrics and interviews. Bruce is okay, but he an I still have beef bc my mom always wanted to fuck him. You aren't my real dad Bruce.
On one hand, he wrote "The Ghost of Tom Joad." On the other hand, he does flagfucking Superbowl Jeep commercials and hangs out with Obama.
What are some other bands like Chicago? With that big fat brass sound? I love it but not really Chicago's vocals.
Otis Redding, Mothers of Invention, Blood Sweat and Tears, Earth Wind and Fire, Electric Flag, Joe Cocker, Taj Mahal, Little Feat, not all are like Chicago but same era.
