IDK I've been really impressed how critical and subversive it is, watching it properly for the first time with my partner. The main plot is just about the deep state being a successful deep state. The monster-of-the-week eps are often explained in reference to something the US really did, like MKULTRA, secretly testing biological weapons on citizens, drugging their military in Vietnam, etc. The show is often pretty goofy, kind of like watching TNG, but with a better hit/miss ratio.
And Scully is a total smoke show.
Earnestly, if you enjoy Supernatural American Media, its one of those pieces thats so influential that its almost worth a watch just to deepen your understanding of the genre. Akira:AnimeMovies::X-Files:monster of the week. And its influential cuz its good just to be clear.
I mean it's very clearly a product of the 90s, but it's still good show.
When you just want them to stick to the arc and they keep showing you all the scary monsters they thought of
Monster of the weeks were actually always my favorite because the story arc pretty much went nowhere
I liked the majority but many were forgettable and frustrating after a cliffhanger arc builder.
There is a skip list that someone made which only kept the episodes from fan fav and ones with lore development
One of the revival seasons features a two part episode entitled "My Struggle."
Pre-9/11 media was kinda nutty with it. I've been watching Buffy, and the amount of times they rag on the military and (a lesser extent) cops is surprising too
