In a new interview, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said he views China's global ascent as a "huge win for the world." As the East Asian nation’s economy has seen major growth in recent years, the billionaire commented positively on China when he was asked by Michael Fullilove, executive director of Australia-based think tank the Lowy Institute, at an in-person event on Monday how “bullish” he was on the country. You know, I do think the current mentality of the U.S. to China — and which is reciprocated — is kind of a lose-lose mentality.
I'm assuming it's the same deal as Zuckerberg's sucking up to China (posting reviews of TGOC and handing it out to his employees / offering Xi to name his child which ofc he refused to do) because he wanted Facebook to have full access to the data/advertising potential of the Chinese market (Facebook was essentially banned from China in 2009).
I had to google this it was so fucking wild. At Obama's party no less. The photo of Zuck asking is absolutely deranged. Incredible restraint on Xi's part not to launch the nukes as soon as he got home.

Impressive; China banned Facebook before anyone in the West was even ready to have the "is Facebook bad?" conversation.
