yeah, you have options now, I did my one and only Germany run before that. Felt dirty even though I was not as radicalized as I am now.
even with oppose Hitler you still follow the same foreign policy path as the Reich, especially in attacking the USSR. I think the AI even turns France communist so that you have more of a challenge.

95% of YouTube is the lowest quality schlock. WTYP is literally just a handful of (periodically drunk) engineering nerds cracking jokes over the top of a PowerPoint slide deck and still it manages to be some of the most professionally produced content on the site.
Hell, most TikToks manage to clear the "better produced than your average YouTube video" bar simply by adding a filter or a graphic.

I might be tripping but like has it [YouTube recommends] gotten worse? Lol like I swear especially the last year my YouTube recommends are full of pure slop that often is crypto or straight up right wing. Like from a popular documentary with 4 million views with a title like "WELCOME TO NORTH KOREA LAND OF FAMINE" or "YouTuber shills for China!!" . I never watch any bullshit like that but it's all over my shit . Although to be fair the more I become a quasi Marxist version of a crank the more I see everything as an intentional psy op lol.
My recommendations have actually gotten better over the years and despite a healthy diet of communist propaganda I never get that stuff. Sometimes I get pragerU ads but I have personalized ads turned off so I know there's a randomness to it

I remember back in college when every third video had the thumbnail of a woman's tits in a low cut top on display. Now the YouTube algorithm filters those out, so we get the painfully white Soyjack face instead. The site also tends to favor longer form videos, so we get a lot fewer comedy out-takes and sketches. Instead, we get 400 Hours of LoFi Beats and talking head rants.
But, more than that, its a lot of content I'd expect to see on a Waiting Room TV playing "The Chive" endless clip streams. Lots of Mr. Beast and sports highlight reels and "You'll never believe this video!" clickbait. Lots of clip-shows from SNL or Pawn Stars or dance videos or hot-sauce challenges. I think I'd have to go back 10 years to really remember what the site was like back then. But I seem to remember more tangible content - original music, tight five comedy sets, visual art displays - and less ten minutes of build up for a thirty second payoff.
I keep my stream pretty tightly filtered (SponsorBlock and some other ad-ons screen out the worst shit) and I don't actually watch much of it. So most of my front page is just Stav or Chapo clips, D&D Let's Plays / FoundryVTT tip guides, the occasional Bad Faith or WTYP video...

I think a lot might just be keywords you search on promoting content you don't like. If you were heavily into basketball or competitive LoL or fashion/makeup blogs, I doubt you'd see any of that.
But the thing I keep coming back to - even with a heavily parsed down feeds - is how much of this shit effectively just remains ads. Even the podcasting stuff - podcasting stuff I generally like - is just promo material. I think that's what really hurts the overall quality of YouTube today. The Korea/China shit is effectively just ads for foreign policy. The sports/gaming/fashion stuff is just ads for gambling or consumerist spending. The podcasting stuff is just ads for the respective acts.
That's not even really any of their fault, per say. Its just what YouTube has geared itself to reward. Everyone is just cutting WWE wrestling promos all the time forever.

Its a uniquely a US idea that a fucking computer is personal property. Everyone having a smart phone and a computer and a television and a gaming console is too much treats and definitely isn't good for the environment. We need to bring back computer cafes, arcades, movie theaters, and just social spaces where computer hardware can be shared so people don't need to own this stuff.

Germany isn't even that fun to play, there's no interesting internal mechanics, it's just really overpowered in a slightly sus way. Now the Soviet union on the other hand, that's a great nation to play
I tried to get into hoi4 but I got stuck in the tutorial after following all the instructions, my soldiers stalled out in North Africa and I couldn't figure out why. I don't know if I'm an idiot or the tutorial was just bad at its job, I googled and skimmed wikis but it didn't really answer my problem and after that I just lost all the energy to play the game. The knowledge and time investment just to start to play the game is too much for me I guess.
I suck eggs at grand strategy games, but I'm guessing it's related to the lower infrastructure in that region. It'll fuck up your supplies and choke your army to a halt.
idk if you've played since supply got reworked, but infrastructure has nothing to do with supply. you need a supply hub with a rail/port connection to your capital and enough trains/convoys to fill the supply need. his divisions are probably out of range of the nearest hub. the range can be slightly increased by motorizing the hub, if you have the trucks. otherwise you'll have to build a new supply hub or take one from the enemy
I think I last played when Man the Guns came out lol. It's been a minute and it's probably an entirely different game.
Find a friend to play with (just one computer and player playing), grab a few drinks, and discuss major decisions. It's a good time. The actual player can handle minor decisions and general running of the country.
IIRC the math behind the units has been updated since the tutorial was made. You can still take North Africa with the units provided, but there's a bit of luck/tinkering involved so it may take a few tries.
Unironically i was having easier time in kaissereich, ended up making a huge radleft france before i quit because late game lag sucks at my laptop
