    I remember once instantly losing all respect for one of my college professors and walking out when they made a suggestion that instead of doing medical testing on animals, they should do it on prisoners.

    Mind you: I identified as a fucking libertarian at the time who had no concept of how deeply screwed up and racist our justice system is, and even then warped and stupid as my politics were I had a basic understanding that you're talking about human fucking beings.

    The fact that some people need this basic truth explained to them is horrifying to me.

      Libertarianism is an early access ideology precisely because you can come at it from every conceivable angle. All you really need is to decide "no government would be better than this shit show" and whether you're raised Cafeteria Catholic or in a family of Maoist Third Worlders, it (initially) makes sense.

      Locking people up for petty offenses and extorting them for their organs should set off every Libertarian's alarm bells. Its practically a litmus test for identifying folks who came there organically against ones who are just in it to con the true believers.
