'crime of violence' could just be the bogus crime of resisting arrest that cops like to stack, but yeah
yeah idk what his previous conviction was been but it's probably gonna be critical support on this one.
I don't think it matters what the previous crime was as he's in the right in this case

Afaik they sometimes count just having a gun in a city as being a "crime of violence" even if no violence ever occurs- it's how liberals say they're stopping violent crime when they stop and frisk black men. Could be anything.
Even if he hurt someone in the past, he still has the right to defend himself against his armed landlord
