Why can’t you just enjoy your life and fuck off forever?

If you were capable of fucking off, feeling empathy, or had any cap on your greed/desire to impose your will, you wouldn't have made it to a billion dollars. I'm reasonably sure you're also unable to enjoy things because surely, somewhere around 3 or 5M you would begin to enjoy your wealth and opulence instead of gobbling up more.

EDIT: Honestly, 99% of the world is going to enjoy $50k being more money than they can easily conceptualize.

to be fair, it's not like JK or notch made their money by successfully running an empire of a business. they had a single product that they cashed out for.

Normally, I'd agree, but being an author/squatting on your own IP is arguably a barely evil way to earn a billion dollars. I don't even think she tried. She could've made 5mil if like half a million people bought her book, and is like 100 times that easy.

The only surplus value she exploited was like maybe publishers, editors, and movie royalties. Plenty of people do that and then go on to lead pretty cool lives, or at least don't become so fucking vile. You don't need to be evil to write a children's book, usually the opposite.

Like you'd think someone with that kind of imagination could think of all kinds of ways to do awesome shit with their money. Why even fucking touch Twitter?

selling a popular book (or IP based on it) is probably one of the least exploitative ways to make money. it's basically pateron but with a publisher. and one of the few robust non-capitalist institutions we have pretty much all around the country are public libraries, where you can borrow just about any book completely for free.
