In my view, he appeared to believe that fundamental errors of thinking were the root cause of much greater errors like the rise of fascism. But yeah, he probably didn't really care about politics.
The worst part is that it's always been like this but the absurdity mostly gets edited out of the very, very, very narrow slice of information that gets retained in public memory so it's a constant revelation to people and they think everythings getting worse all the time.
Like no, the universe has always been exactly the bizarre, cruel, and disorderly, which is why Absurdism is the only coherent philosophy for the individual.
