The thing I have come to understand is that these people will do and say whatever they need to in order to justify their hated of trans people, logic, empiricism, human decency are irrelevant. For them the mere fact if our existence as anything other than a clearly demarcated subclass of human sex objects, and even then that meager level of existence is predicated on "good behavior," is a monstrously immoral imposition on, not just their but, societies very existence.

For example, I had a terf I was arguing with on reddit actually use the fact that I was posting in favor of trans rights, in a thread about legal discrimination against trans people, as justification for my own oppression, because the act of speaking out against my own oppression was coecercive and harmful to women and children equivalent to spousal abuse and pedophilia. For these people our mere existence itself is the justification for ANY harmful action against us.

      :sartre-pipe: quote

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.
