What are We Doing to White People?
yewtu.beI talk about the rising tide of racial hatred against White people that some are refusing to acknowledge is happening. Six minutes of this sixteen minute video is a compilation of what people are saying about White people online. Take a look for yourself, and ask yourself: where is all of this going? We can take a peek into the future by examining what is going on in this cultural climate: segregation and hatred of White people, sanctioned by government and law. You can shout all you want that such policies are remedial in nature, but that does not make it so. It is not true that people of color don't have the power to discriminate against White people. It's just that we are taking advantage of our newfound cultural power and change in social dynamics to propagate this falsehood while engaging in active discrimination. The schoolyard bully often says "I'm not bullying you" as he does just that. We're going backwards. "History doesn't repeat but it often rhymes."
Youtube is a hellsite of reaction.
Disclaimer: I'm a minority and I make "racist" jokes about white people and talk shit about them all the time to the point where even all my friends (all minorities) get super uncomfortable about it
What word would you describe somebody who goes up to random white people on the streets and then physically assaults them because they're white while yelling "cracker" at them?
I feel like it's better to say racism hardly affects white people and that it's really hard to be racist towards white people. All the white stereotypes are barely negative compared to minorities' stereotypes. Being called a cracker is nowhere near the level of calling a minority a racial slur. Being "racist" towards white people has no wider reaching effects other than just that one event whereas it's the completely opposite with minorities
But I think in the scenario I described above has to be an example of how one can be racist against white people
Because trust me, I can definitely find many ways to be racist towards white people if I wanted to lol
Imaginary
Alternatively, shot.
The old adage was that racism = prejudice + power. And since the institutions in this country were established and are maintained by white supremacy, there are few instances where non-white people can flex prejudice & power over the :cracker:
I think the difference is that as a white person you aren't racialized so any insult to the white race can easily be shrugged off as not reffering to you. The word cracker only evokes performative offence
If it makes sense white is essentially the state of not having been arbitrarily been assigned to a racial group. The history is that the European powers made up race as they went along to justify each new colonial project it was never a unified theory.
What the hell are you doing on this site
Dude. No you cannot
You can be racist against white but not in a white society. Go to Japan and see American's getting fucked by Japanese landowners that sees them like noisy and dirty gaijin.
But it is very obvious in these discussions that when people discuss this they are not talking about racism against white in the third world or some select circumstances(japanese xenophobia) but realy just racism in general within western society. Japan is honorary western at best, like really stretching the definition.
In a western society I'd say it is definitely impossible to be systematically racist against white people period. The reaction you see here is pretty much as expected. Sure as you say you can emulate the behavior while living in the west if you want, but that is no more being racist as libs thinking they're revolutionary leftists by boycotting [evil corporation here].
Oh for sure systematic racism against white people is impossible
I just feel like on an individual basis it'd be fairly simple to be racist towards a white person if you have a physical advantage
I think there was a story posted here a few weeks ago about how some black student kept calling a white student cracker and the teacher had to intervene because the white kid was crying and stuff
That was more what I was talking about. Though I guess this website is not mature enough to talk about these differences seeing as in that thread I saw a bunch of comments shitting on the white kid and calling the bullying justified and I had to exit out instantly
Yeah of course the twitter/reddit mentality is still present here in some ways, this isn't news.
But as I said there is a legitimate difference between racist behavior and structural racism(and consequences) and people just default to the latter even when just talking about the former.
I don't think anyone here legitimately thinks the world would be better of if all schools became an interracial war zone(again) if really pressed on the issue. But seeing [insert white person] get fucked by the minority immediately invokes a reaction because lets be honest it is a damn rare sight in the actual real world lol.
That's just prejudice agai st people with pale skin which could ve any number of ethnic groups. Racism is part if a whole structural system that undergirds the economic reproduction of society. In this context "white" doesn't actually apply to an ethnic group, but to an ever-changing and amorphous group that is contiguous with economically dominant within any context in which it finds itself. This is why different ethnic groups and individuals move in and out of 'whiteness' as the economic paradigm requires. We are seeing this now as second and third generation children of South and central American immigrants are beginning to move into "whiteness." Yes whiteness does, generally, have some phenotypes and behaviors associated with it, but they are loose and contingent on the necessity if maintaining the white supremacist racial hierarchy, not some communal self understanding and organic development of a social group.
For example I am a white trans woman and an athiest from upstate new York. I have very little in common with a white cisgender christian man from east Texas. From an ethnic perspective I have more in common with a black trans woman in the same town as me. The one thing that binds me with the white dude in Texas is the relative dominance we have economically in society as "white" people. As a socialist I want to see the end of that dominance hierarchy.
Even more confusingly if they were in Europe they would have been considered white the whole time. It's one of the weird things about America that they think Spanish people aren't white
